Description
Albert Ràfols-Casamada "Azul vertical" 2000 signed limited edition serigraph on canvas, numbered /75 and hand signed in pencil by the artist.
"Azul vertical" (Vertical Blue) is a rhythmic abstract composition of tall, brushy vertical bands. A warm orange column runs down the left, followed by a pale strip holding a fine black line drawing and a scribbled tuft above a soft gray column. A vivid cobalt blue stripe rises through the center, and a golden yellow column on the right is set with a speckled dark gray-green panel crossed by gold grid lines and a thin brown L-shaped line, all on a generous cream border.
About the artist: Albert Ràfols-Casamada (1923–2009) was a Barcelona-born painter, poet and teacher and one of the leading figures of Catalan abstraction. His lyrical use of color and rhythmic, open brushwork earned him Spain's National Prize for Plastic Arts in 1980.
