Albert Ràfols-Casamada "Café" 1999 Signed Limited P.T. /7 Wall Art Unframed

Albert Ràfols-Casamada "Café" 1999

New. Original retail $3400.

Signed limited P.T. /7 workshop proof screen print on paper, 79x60 cm, hand-signed in pencil at lower right and marked P.T. in pencil at lower left.

P.T. stands for Prueba de Taller (workshop proof): a signed limited proof pulled outside the regular numbered edition and set aside for the print workshop, which collectors prize for its scarcity.

Loose, painterly bands of slate gray dotted with red marks and a warm ochre stroke run down the left side, beside a thin pink line. To the right, a soft gray field holds a tilted cobalt-blue rectangle, a pale mint cloud and a deep green block with a small drawn coffee cup at its center, all on a white sheet with deckled edges.

Albert Ràfols-Casamada (Barcelona, 1923–2009) was a Catalan painter and poet known for lyrical abstraction built from color and light. He co-founded the Eina design school in Barcelona and received Spain's Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas in 1980.
