Description
Fabrizio Plessi "Progetto Nº 61 Trita-Acqua" signed limited edition print, numbered /XX.
Condition: New.
Rendered like a page from an inventor's notebook, this print shows a hand-crank meat grinder drawn as a technical sketch on pink-orange graph paper, with water poured into the hopper and a spray of multicolored dots tumbling out the other end. Handwritten Italian notes such as "percorso dell'acqua" and "possibilità di modificazione" annotate the design, and a small yellow-highlighted diagram of the water's path sits at lower right; the image is set on a white border mounted on a wide gray sheet.
About the /XX edition: Italian print editions were commonly issued in two runs, a main edition numbered in Arabic numerals and a much smaller run of copies numbered in Roman numerals (I/XX through XX/XX), often reserved for the artist, publisher, or collaborators. Plessi's own published editions followed this practice, so a Roman-numeral impression comes from the smallest and scarcest part of the print run, which is why collectors look for it.
About the artist: Fabrizio Plessi, born in Reggio Emilia in 1940 and trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, made water the central theme of his work from the late 1960s onward. His playful "Progetti" drawings of impossible machines for cutting, sawing, and channeling water led to the monumental video installations he became known for, shown at the Venice Biennale and documenta 8 in Kassel.
