Description
Fernando de Szyszlo "Szy-7" 1978 Signed Limited Edition Print
Condition: New. Original retail $12,100.
Features
- One-of-one signed limited edition serigraph (screen print) on paper, edition of /1, 1978
- Hand-signed "Szyszlo" in white pencil at lower right, marked P.A. (artist's proof) in pencil at lower left
- Unframed
A muted gray upper field meets a warm peach lower field along a soft horizon line, with dense, finely hatched dark forms stacked in an upright cross shape. Bright yellow-green strokes thread through the forms and give the quiet palette a sharp accent.
About the P.A.: P.A. stands for "Prueba de Artista," Spanish for Artist's Proof. Artist's proofs are pulled separately from the numbered edition and traditionally set aside for the artist's own collection, so far fewer exist than regular edition prints. Collectors often value them more highly because of their rarity and close link to the artist.
Fernando de Szyszlo (1925–2017) was a Peruvian painter and printmaker and a leading figure of Latin American abstraction, known for drawing on pre-Columbian Andean motifs and textiles.
Size & Fit
- Approx. 76 x 56 cm (about 30 x 22 in.)
Condition: New. Original retail $12,100.
